United Digital launches HyperStar Lite

United Digital launches HyperStar Lite

Leading data storage developer United Digital has unveiled a new, cost-effective addition to its range of next-generation HyperStar RAID controllers; the Hyperstar Lite.

Responding to heightened demand generated by the recent launch of the HyperStar Fibre Channel Series, the company has developed a storage system which still benefits from the same chassis and main components as all other HyperStar products, but removes expandability features and uses a different RAID controller. This brand new system offers an even more affordable option that performs only a fraction slower than its ultra-fast HyperStar counterparts.

The HyperStar range has become a must have for performance driven and design savvy graphic arts users due to the combination of its elegant design and class-leading features. The new HyperStar Lite 6116RM is a single controller 3U 16-bay rackmountable Fibre Chanel-to-SATA RAID System and is also available as a 2U 12-bay version (HyperStar Lite 6112RM).

We have had an impressive demand for HyperStar but we felt that there was a need for an alternative with the same smart design but less feature-rich and at a slightly lower price.

It is bit like buying a Golf GT instead of a Golf GTI. You can hardly tell the difference, whether you are behind the wheel or looking at it from the outside.

The HyperStar is available as 12-bay Fibre Channel (HyperStar Lite 6112RM) or as 16-bay (HyperStar Lite 6116RM) and comes with up to 16TB raw storage capacity.
