United Digital offers alternative to Apple Xserve RAID

UD model delivers improved performance at a fraction of the price  

Following Apple’s announcement that it is to discontinue selling its Xserve RAID, United Digital has moved swiftly to reassure customers that the perfect alternative already exists in the form of the UD SuperStar 6116RM which comfortably outperforms  the Xserve RAID but at a much lower price.

In the past year United Digital has re-vamped its entire product range, offering a superior palette of RAID solutions, all purpose-designed with the Apple environment in mind. In particular, three products specifically target users demanding Fibre Channel connectivity - be this for single controller or dual controller solutions.

Dual or single controller – the choice is yours!

When customers demand dual controller systems with active-active functionality, one
of the controllers inevitably stays idle, in case the other controller fails. If it does, the system should switch seamlessly without the user even noticing. In practice this is difficult to achieve - not because the RAID system is unable to switch over, but because the Apple OS gets confused and makes the RAID set disappear.
