Background

Cognition, a medium-sized design studio using both PCs and Macs, approached United Digital for advice on the safe storage of their digital files. A flurry of new clients meant that the amount of storage space they required was increasing exponentially, and Partner Tim Witcherley felt they could be doing more to protect themselves against the risk of losing data. “New files were being constantly added to the server where we also stored our archived files, with current work being saved to each user’s machine and backed up to individual hard drives. Our work is our livelihood and we really couldn’t afford to have the server or any of our computers fail.”

Outcome

Cognition now has a robust file storage system which is fault-tolerant, and should they experience any problems the United Digital service agreement means a trained engineer will be with them within 4 hours. “The whole service from start to finish was seamlessly professional. The sense of relief was immediate, but I felt it particularly when later in the year our office almost succumbed to the floods while I was on holiday. Taking that call, I could only think how grateful I was that I’d got in touch with United Digital when I did.
